Sachiko Oshima
Japanese Abstract Artist currently based in Athens, Greece
My work explores the simple accents and textures of our surroundings, often overlooked, yet rich in character. I am fascinated by the surface of old building walls, as well as patterns and shapes that nature creates and alters.
I extract the emotion and the strongest parts of what I see and experiment with composition, colors and texture. The layers of paint are continuously concealed and revealed until a story emerges.
This creative curiosity of capturing such details developed through my nomadic experiences, living in and exploring Tokyo, Hong Kong, London, Paris, Chicago and most recently, Athens. I gather inspiration from their unique attributes as the central core to my work, combining the French aesthetic appreciation, the American boldness and the Japanese sensitivity and attention to detail.
I am presenting “Kind Earth” for the Energy show. I have known Abigail for over 5 years and we originally worked together, as Kind Earth Alliance, on an environmental project. I am grateful to be involved in this show through my art.
Abigail wanted to have an art piece which represents my interpretation of paradise and heaven. My mind and heart is filled with happiness and peace when I am surrounded by nature. Mother nature is strong yet fragile- we need to cherish it and live in harmony. I believe every one of us can bring a positive impact to the wellbeing of the planet and humanity by living a conscious life. Behind numerous layers are some key words that I began by writing down: Love, kindness, balance, harmony, authenticity, gratitude, trees, flowers, animals, etc. These words remain hidden, but my intention is there as a foundation. While painting, I kept some images of beautiful gardens, fields, and forests, to surround myself with inspiration. I hope viewers will feel uplifted and peaceful from this piece.

Jimi Paszkiewicz
Interdisciplinary Artist
Art, a language that can be used to show universal pain and triumph. “Self-Love” is a reflection of a journey into sobriety. Looking inward with self-acceptance can be daunting, though forgiveness becomes its own reward.
My experience in sobriety and of making “Self-Love” was both rewarding and frustrating. The process, often testing my patience, forced me to confront the fact that making fulfilling work is not an easy task. Splattered paint can resemble the discontent as well as the freedom from the shackles that heroin can have over everyday life. The use of different mediums shows a harmonious fluidity when integrated that represent accepting outcomes that we are faced with daily.
Self-love is not so much what you see, rather, I want the viewer to ask themselves, “What do you feel?”
Jimi created this unique piece for Energy the show.
