Founder & Executive Chair Paws Animal Shelter, Chicago
“When we began this journey in 1997, we made a promise to Chicago's homeless pets: that PAWS would work to end the unnecessary killing each year of tens of thousands of helpless cats and dogs.
Today, as we enter our 25th anniversary year, we — and the animals who depend on us — have so much to be grateful for.
Our solutions-based approach has led the way to a 91% drop in euthanasia citywide since our founding. We've performed more than 280,000 free and low-cost spay/neuter surgeries, found loving homes for more than 70,000 pets, and consistently saved 98% of the pets who come through our doors. And while these achievements are remarkable, it’s just the beginning.
We wouldn't be here without incredible people like you whose commitment to building a No Kill Chicago has made a real difference in the lives of cats and dogs. Our generous supporters were simply extraordinary in 2021, and each of the last 24 years. Thanks to you, PAWS Chicago is a groundbreaking leader in animal welfare with a passionate army of supporters, volunteers, fosters and adopters who literally save lives every day.”
