Justin Pomeroy
Acupuncturist, Herbalist, Chirologist- "Hand Reader", Teacher & Healer
Justin Pomeroy has been practicing Chinese medicine for 36 years. He is one of the preeminent pioneers of acupuncture practice and education in America having started his training in 1973. Along with Paul Zmiewski, he founded the Midwest College for Oriental Medicine in 1978. His study of Chinese medicine was an outgrowth of his on-going spiritual practice and his interest in Asian philosophies. He studied at many schools and training programs including the North American College of Acupuncture (Vancouver), the Occidental Institute for Oriental Studies (Florida) and the Chicago Oriental Acupuncture Academy. He also studied with many mentors and masters such as Shudo Denmai, Kiiko Matsumoto, Mark Seem, Dr. Yamani, Shin Hak Pang, Trun-Viet and Robert Duggan (the Five Element tradition of J. R. Worsley). Besides the new TCM system of Chinese medicine, Justin also studied the Taiwanese classical acupuncture systems of Wu Wei-P’ing, Master Tung and Richard Tan. Justin also studied Chinese herbal medicine with Dr. Zhengang Guo and Bob Flaws. From 1988 through 1994, Justin traveled through Europe teaching seminars in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Italy. Recently, he has been integrating the Myofascial Trigger Point pain work of Janet G. Travell into his practice.
In 1994, Justin founded the Life Gate Center (Chicago), an acupuncture/herbal treatment center specializing in treating psycho-emotional disorders as well as meditational and yoga support for spiritual aspirants. The Life Gate Center also offers workshops and trainings in Qi Gong, Tai Chi, Acupressure, chirology, and meditation, as well as graduate courses in Chinese medical theory and practice.
