Dr. Lamya Kamel

Director of Acupuncture Aligned Modern Health
Dr. Lamya Kamel is NCCAOM board certified in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, and Traditional Oriental Medicine. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Scripps College in Chemistry and Physics, a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine, and a Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Health and Science in Chicago and San Diego. During her Doctoral Program, Dr. Kamel was fortunate to study with world renowned practitioners and authors Drs. Giovanni Maciocia and Jill Blakeway. While completing her doctorate, Dr. Kamel also conducted and published original research on the role of integrating acupuncture and chiropractic medicine to treat chronic pain.
In addition to being an Associate Professor at PCHS and the Chair of the Department of Professionalism, she is a member of the Illinois Society for Acupuncture (ILSA), and has served as both Vice-President and President, promoting awareness of the medicine and protecting the rights of Acupuncturists in Illinois. She is also an active member of the Society for Acupuncture research and American Society for Reproductive medicine where she has presented her research. She is the Director of Acupuncture at Aligned Modern Health, where she hires, trains and coaches 26 acupuncturists in 18 multidisciplinary clinics in Chicago. Dr. Kamel’s clinical interests include pain management, digestive health, neurological disorders, mental health, women’s health, infertility, as well as maternity and post-partum care. In her free time, Dr. Kamel enjoys rollerblading, playing basketball, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with her two sons and family.
